Abstract | This is the sixth of eight volumes consisting of series of publications of the Center for the Study of Liberal Education for Adults (CSLEA), such as Notes and Essays, Research Reports, Occasional Papers, and Conference Reports. These materials provide both theory and practice in the area of non-credit adult liberal education offered by colleges and universities. This volume contains Occasional Papers, numbers 2-3, 7-12, and 31. Titles include (1) National Trends in Higher Adult Education, (2) Liberal Education for Community Clubs, (3) New Eyes for Old: The Quest for Education, (4) The Human Experience: An Experimental Program in Adult Liberal Education at Northern Illinois University, (5) Promoting High Standards of Professional Excellence, (6) Inter-Association Cooperation Reconsidered (3 papers), (7) The Case Against the Adult Dropout, (8) Significant Developments in Continuing Higher Education, and (9) Historical and Cultural Influences upon the Development of Residential Centers for Continuing Education. Understanding Group Behavior--A Discussion Guide is also provided. Each unit is based on a reading assignment and may contain a brief outline of the reading as well as problems for discussion. Questionnaires are appended. The final component of this volume is Education for Public Responsibility, a statement by Directors of the Fund for Adult Education. (YLB) |
