Abstract | This guide presents materials to help the teacher in implementing a teacher advisory program (grades 8-12) to provide career and life guidance within the classroom. Emphasis in grades 8 and 9 is on values clarification, decision making, and career exploration. In grades 10-12 greater emphasis is placed on career choice and selection. The guide first presents the philosophy and purpose of the teacher advisory system, definitions, program goals, and instructional goals and objectives. These practical materials follow: guidelines for initiating the program, steps to follow in implementing, general suggestions, evaluation procedures, and personnel responsibilities. Suggested agendas for teacher advisory implementation for junior and senior high school present topics and possible resources for eight meetings. Appendixes include two teacher and student interest surveys, teacher advisory system evaluation, student evaluation form, teacher evaluation, self-appraisal form, and student questionnaire. (YLB) |
