Abstract	The "Allied Health Education Directory," eighth edition (formerly the "Allied Medical Education Directory") is a reference work covering accredited educational programs in 24 allied health occupations. It provides allied health educators, administrators, counselors, and students with: (1) information on the development of allied health education and accreditation and on current concerns; (2) a description of the general accreditation process and of the specific process for individual occupations; (3) occupational program information; (4) specific information on accredited educational programs; (5) the standards and processes for developing educational programs qualified for accreditation; (6) procedures concerning education and accreditation; and (7) additional information related to allied health education and accreditation. Sections cover four major areas: accreditation history and allied health issues; accreditation; occupational program information (organized in alphabetical order by profession); and computer program information. Statistical tables provide basic information for each occupation and also provide a basis for comparison between and among professions. Appendix A contains guidelines for each occupation. Appendix B contains the procedure statements adopted by the committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation relating to collaboration, review committees, and programs. Additional information related to allied health education and accreditation appears in the four final appendices. (LC)
