Abstract	An employer needs assessment involving 469 businesses and firms in Anderson, Oconee, and Pickens counties was conducted during 1978-79 by Tri-County Technical College (TCTC) to: (1) involve the business community in establishing TCTC's educational priorities; (2) determine discrepancies between area training needs and TCTC's curriculum; and (3) collect opinions about TCTC. During the study, 369 on-site interviews were conducted and 100 surveys were mailed. Interviewees and respondents were asked to identify occupational areas where training was needed on an occupational inventory checklist and to indicate, among other items, their familiarity with TCTC, the frequency with which they hired TCTC graduates, the quality of job preparation provided by TCTC, and the performance of TCTC graduates. Selected findings indicate that 78% of the respondents were moderately or very familiar with TCTC and that only 13% had never hired a TCTC graduate. While most respondents rated graduate job performance as good to excellent, many indicated a need for TCTC and other vocational training centers to emphasize pride in workmanship and quality control. A variety of vocational areas needing additional training opportunities were cited. The study report summarizes survey methodology and findings and provides background information on the population and economy of the three counties. The survey instruments are included. (JP)
