Abstract | The document contains 12 units suitable for use in junior and senior high school social studies classes on experiences and acculturation of first and second generation French people in the Northeastern United States. Each unit is presented in both the English and French language. Units are entitled "Education,""The Family,""Arts and Literature,""Church,""History,""Traditions,""Youth,""Labor and Economics,""Societies,""Politics,""Language and Assimilation," and "The Media." For each unit, information is presented on background (in France and among people of French background in America) and activities. Activities involve students in interviewing Franco-American community members, studying statistical tables, preparing psychohistories and geneologies of French families, analyzing photographs of French Americans, debating and discussing issues in class, preparing French foods, and participating in celebrations with a French background.
