| Abstract | This Norsk language unit is intended to introduce high school students in the United States to modern spoken Norwegian and to Norwegian culture. The document is presented in 18 chapters. Topics include greetings, family, speaking Norwegian, the alphabet, travel in Norway, parts of the country, telling time, pronouns and articles, days of the week, ordering food in a restaurant, sports, football, stamp collecting, skiing, and the Norwegian political system. For each topic, fill in and short answer exercises are presented to reinforce student comprehension of basic vocabulary words. To develop each topic, various formats are used including simple sentences, questions, and dialogues. Charts, illustrations, and a Norwegian/English vocabulary list are also included. After participating in the Norwegian language unit, students should have mastered the use of commonly used idioms and a limited vocabulary. In addition, the developer feels that exposure to the unit will help students appreciate Norwegian heritage. (DB) |
