| Abstract | Part 4 of a series of 13 instructor's manuals for the competency based training of curriculum consultants for exceptional children focuses on the consultant's role as advisor. Three competencies are considered: (1) that a curriculum consultant should be capable of analyzing a teacher's situation as a basis for determing consultation needs, (2) that a curriculum consultant should be capable of helping teachers develop problem solving skills, and (3) that a curriculum consultant should be capable of establishing him/herself as a constant source of consulting help in contrast to the role of a problem solver. Among materials included in the manual are lists of behavioral objectives for the module, enabling activities, and evaluation criteria for each of the competency components. Space is provided for the instructor to list resources and comments for the activities provided for each of the components. A conference record sheet is included for each of the three competencies.
