| Abstract | This curriculum and resource guide on adult basic education was developed to assist administrators, supervisors, and teachers in instructional planning. Section 1 includes general information about adult basic education, its student populations, and its objectives. Section 2 contains broad content outlines for three grade levels (1-4, 5-8, and 9-12), each covering the basic subjects (reading, auditory, rhetoric, handwriting, math, social studies, etc.). Items in the outline are keyed to appropriate instructional materials in section 3 (materials and equipment). It is divided into several sections composed of programmed and non-programmed materials lists of mechanical aids, tapes and cassettes, filmstrips, learning aids, and pamphlets. Section 4 lists activities that will enable the teacher to plan a lesson by using a variety of techniques (role playing, community resources, problem solving, etc.). The last sections include a sample lesson plan, glossary of acronyms, addresses of associations, bibliography for teachers on adult basic education, and publishers' addresses. (PV) |
