AbstractA narrative summary of program accomplishments, tabular data, and program guidelines comprise the annual report of the Johnson-O'Malley Indian Education Program (JOM), which provides academic programs and educational support monies for eligible Indian students. The introduction describes the students served, the program staff, the Indian parent advisory committee, and special services including workshops for parents, inservice training for home/school and teacher aides, and leadership training for Indian youth. Enrollment and attendance figures, presented in tabular form, show an average daily attendance of 86% for the 16,520 eligible JOM students; figures are given by school district, by age and grade, and by tribe. Dropouts are shown by grade and by reason for leaving school; the same table shows the number of JOM students completing each grade. Six tables of program expenditures include total expenditures by county and school and costs for training workshops, program administration, and special programs. The report includes the text of the contract between JOM and eastern Oklahoma public schools and the Eastern Oklahoma Educational Plan, which outlines procedures to follow in administering JOM funds and provides guidelines for cooperation between the local school districts and the Indian Parent Committees.
