AbstractSalary information for faculty and deans of accredited colleges of pharmacy is presented in this annual survey prepared by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy. Data are based on responses collected for the academic year 1978-1979. Salary data for faculty remunerated on the calendar (10 or 12 month appointment) and the academic (9 or 10 month appointments) year basis are presented separately. Summary tables for the ranks of professor; associate professor; assistant professor; dean; assistant/associate dean; and for faculty by teaching discipline, by rank, and by appointment basis are included. Mean salaries, percentiles, and range of salaries are graphed as well as average salaries by years-in-rank. The results indicate that faculty remunerated on an academic year basis received larger average salary increases than those remunerated on a calendar year basis. It is also noted that the number of faculty classified as assistant/associate deans increased during this time period. Professors' salaries increased an average of 4.0 to 7.8 percent, associate professors' 6.3 to 9.4 percent, and assistant professors' 4.8 to 7.3 percent. Salary increases for deans averaged 8.1 percent and for assistant/associate deans 6.4 to 11.3 percent. (Author/SF)
