Abstract | This compendium is an inventory of projects funded by the United States Office of Research and Development of the Employment and Training Administration of the Department of Labor during fiscal years 1963-1978. It presents the research and development projects funded during this period and describes briefly their objectives, the methods employed, and, for those completed, their findings or results. The first of five chapters is composed of studies of government policies and underlying economic and social conditions. Chapter 2 contains projects concerning the operation of the labor market itself. Topics covered include labor demand and supply, imbalances between demand and supply, institutional influences, and attitudes that affect workers' behavior. Projects on the content and effectiveness of programs that have intervened in the labor market to improve the development and use of human resources constitute chapter 3. Chapter 4 contains projects that focus on the logistics of these programs (the activities that are required to plan, manage, staff, evaluate, and provide supportive services). Doctoral dissertation grants and institutional grants to universities comprise chapter 5. Indexes are included of contract and grant numbers, contractor and grantee organizations, individuals associated with contracts and grants, and research subjects. (LRA) |
