| Abstract | This report chronicles the six-year growth (1972-1978) of Dallas County Community College District's (DCCCD) Instructional Television program (ITV), explaining the design, production, implementation, components, and evaluation of the telecourses within the program. It also includes discussions of local and national distribution of courses, profiles of DCCCD telecourse students, and descriptions of each of the telecourses. The usefulness and effectiveness of college-level instructional television is demonstrated and future directions of the program are explored. The report indicates that production has gone from a single, "talking head" course to seven completed college credit telecourses (with others in various stages of development, design, and planning), using a sophisticated instructional system which includes professionally produced video and print elements carefully integrated with other components in a well-designed learning package. Enrollments, the report relates, rose from 399 in the fall of 1972 to over 10,000 enrollments per academic year in 18 course offerings in 1977-1978. The findings relate how a once closed circuit broadcast delivery system for Dallas County now encompasses several delivery modes, both open and closed circuit and on- and off-campus availability, including a regional consortium and an international distribution system.
