AbstractThe final report of the study group is the culmination of a three-year project to examine the similarities and differences in German and U.S. higher education access and admissions and the ways in which the two systems can learn from each other. The study consisted of a seminar, plenary meetings in both countries, and commissioned papers and research studies. Specialists from both countries participated. The contents of the final report include sections comparing and evaluating structures and systems, equal opportunity for access and selection, educational articulation, access and employment, and access and the role of government. In each section, recommendations are made for decision-makers in government, industry, and educational institutions concerned with these issues in each country. Appended are lists of the study group members, consultants, and meetings, publications of the study group, and publications and papers generated by the work of the group. (MSE)
