| Abstract | The report drawn from the third annual conference that was designed to provide professional dialogue for those concerned with the improvement of college reading programs, this volume contains ten papers that deal with the following topics: the certification of reading teachers, diagnosing the reading needs of college students, a multimedia self-instructional systems approach to word study, a vocabulary development program, motivating the college reader, utilizing known factors to increase reading speed and flexibility, using the visual-auditory-kinesthetic spelling technique to solve severe spelling problems a clinical approach to remedial reading, ways to meet the needs of college readers more effectively, and a study habits program based on modern learning theory principles.
