AbstractThe fourth in a series of volumes on higher education data, this fact book compiled oy the American Council on Education contains information about associate degrees, bachelor degrees, and higher degrees earned in the United States from 1947-48 through l975-76, with projected statistics provided through 1985. The data are condensed into figures and tables that emphasize trends and relationships. The categories for which figures and tables are provided include: earned degrees by level of degree; earned degrees by sex and by control of institution; earned degrees by region and state; earned degrees by race/ethnic group and academic area; and median years from baccalaureate to doctorate degree. Statistics for bachelor degrees awarded to black and other minorities and for doctorates awarded to women are also provided. Figures for earned degrees by academic areas are given in the following categories: humanities, education, social sciences, health professions, biological sciences, physical sciences, engineering, and other fields. Information compiled on associate degrees is presented in a separate section. An index to all four issues of the Fact Book is included. (BH)
