Abstract | The purpose of this study was to identify factors influencing the attitudes of former agricultural students who are preparing to be vocational agricultural teachers toward supervised occupational experience (SOE) program record keeping. Agricultural education majors at Iowa State University during winter quarter, 1978, who had vocational agriculture in high school served as the population. A stratified random sample of 100 students (98 responded) was drawn from this population. A two-part questionnaire was developed to collect biographical data about the respondents and to determine how important students thought their SOE program record keeping was in developing record keeping abilities. The findings revealed similarities and differences among groups of students. Three of the findings were that significant difference existed among mean ratings for students grouped according to the number of hours per month devoted to instruction and work on SOE records in developing some record keeping abilities; similarities existed among means of students grouped according to the number of instructor SOE visits received per year; and no significant difference was found among mean ratings of students grouped according to their financial net worth at the time of their high school graduation and their perceived importance of SOE program record keeping.
