Abstract | This document examines the implications of the Phase II report specifically for observation variables that might be used in future Beginning Teacher Evaluation Study (BTES) research, focusing on those variables and patterns of variables that showed the strongest and most consistent relationships with student learning in the Phase II report. The variables are discussed within four basic categories: (1) teacher behaviors; (2) student behaviors; (3) teacher characteristics; and (4) student characteristics. This document is written with the assumption that the reader is familiar with the design and methodology of the Phase II study. The Phase II report examines the data collection, data analysis, and conclusions of one of the most comprehensive and complex studies of teaching conducted to date. (Author) |
