AbstractThe results of an October 1975 survey by the American Society of Allied Health Professions in cooperation by the American Association of Community and Junior Colleges are presented in this directory, updating the 1973 guidance edition. Information is given on 5,624 active and 252 planned health occupations education programs, including programs in public health, special education, and allied health in the areas of patient care, education, public health, health research, and environmental health. The directory is designed primarily for counselors and to fulfill three major purposes: (1) to provide information about the location of programs; (2) to list guidance-oriented information useful for the student's selection of a program; and (3) to present program information in a format that focuses on the educational opportunities available within a specific occupational area. Programs are referenced either by state or by occupational area. Data are provided in three sections: an index of active and planned programs; a list of active programs, by occupational category and award level; and a list of planned programs by occupational category. Appended are: listing of professional organizations; listing of state health careers councils; specific academic awards; survey instruments; and lists of occupational titles. (LBH)
