| Abstract | The rapid expansion of special education in many parts of the world has brought about much new knowledge and the need for a global information and documentation service. To pull together world-wide information and documentation, UNESCO, the Bureau of International Education, the Council of Europe, the Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC), and other national and international organizations dedicated to the education of exceptional children should unite in forming a special education information system with an international readership. To do this, there are several problems that must be solved which relate to funding, the selection and processing of data, translations of pertinent literature, and procedures for publishing.
