Abstract | The project report identifies the purposes of social work and the major objectives, functions, and activities necessary to attain them. From this material the essential competencies of the first level professional social worker are derived. The project report represents the only current statement of the fundamentals for entry level professional social work practice and education, and it is expected to be used to refine the Council on Social Work Education's accreditation standards for baccalaureate social work programs.
