Abstract | This article traces the historical development of Ivory Coast's educational television system. Included are: (1) background information and initial planning, (2) structural organization including evaluation and maintenance, (3) provisions for inservice teacher training and adult education, (4) written materials production, and (5) program evolution. In addition to the television hardware, a completely revamped curricular program conceived in Ivory Coast for Ivorians was developed. The Ivorian educational television project is seen as a major tool for development, intended to benefit the overall youth of the country as well as the adult rural population. (Author/STS) |
