Abstract | The guide, designed for teachers, supervisors, and resource center directors, identifies sources of classroom materials in economics for elementary and secondary grades. Section I lists 87 pamphlets and periodicals published by the 12 federal reserve districts in the United States. Topics include water use, small farm economics, business forecasts, and the relationship between foreign trade and American agriculture. The pamphlets are listed according to district and have one-sentence annotations. Section II lists 27 briefly annotated games, simulations, and multimedia materials. Grade level and class time are indicated for some. Topics include banking, consumer education, and inflation. Section III identifies 16 paperbound books in series for economic education, and provides information on grade level, class time, and publisher. Three professional organizations for economics are listed in Section IV, followed in section V by a listing of five economics textbooks adopted by Texas for the period 1973-79. Section VI lists names and addresses of 58 organizations which provide materials for economic education. The organizations include American Bankers Association, Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, Institute of Life Insurance, and the U.S. Department of Labor. (AV) |
