| Abstract | Described is the use of an analog/hybrid computer installation to study those physical phenomena that can be described through the evaluation of an algebraic function of a complex variable. This is an alternative way to study such phenomena on an interactive graphics terminal. The typical problem used, involving complex variables, is that of determining the radiation of an antenna made up of identical isotropic radiating elements. The report concludes, among other things, that the analog/hybrid computer can provide a very useful means for the interactive evaluation of functions of complex variables. This report is intended to illustrate how high school, junior college, college and university engineering, mathematics, and science departments might expand the use of existing computer facilities to improve the quality of instruction.
