| Abstract | The purpose of this study is to develop a model of techniques and considerations that can be used by the field of corrections to cope with prison hostage situations. Because of the fact that no two hostage situations will be exactly alike, the considerations and techniques explored are general in nature and will require evaluation and modification in their application to a specific incident. They are specific enough, however, to be used in developing a plan of action before the fact. This model, then, provides a framework on which to build. The study includes a literature review, definitions of terms, and a description of the methodology employed. (Author/BP) |
