| Abstract | This segment of the national evaluation study of the Follow Through Planned Variation Model reviews the background of the study, describes 13 of the Follow Through models involved, and presents an analysis of the effects of these models on students. The analysis is based on data from 4 years of Follow Through participation by Cohort II children and 3 years of participation by Cohort III children. The document begins with a description of the origins, definitions, and evaluation of Planned Variation. Also examined are the educational strategies employed by the various Follow Through models, the measures used to assess the models' effects on children, the overall characteristics of the sample, and the analysis strategy employed. The major portion of the document describes 13 Follow Through models, their ways of meeting stated goals and objectives, and the evidence of their effectiveness.
