Abstract | This pamphlet was prepared to help all those involved in the job-seeking, placement, and recruiting processes. Candidates cannot be provided with a "sure" technique for finding positions, but it is hoped that this guide may help make the search for a position more efficient and more effective. The guide is divided into the following chapters: (1) "The Academic Job Market in English and Foreign Languages in 1976"; (2) "Advice to Job Candidates"; (3) "Advice to Department Chairmen: To Chairmen Involved in Placing Candidates, To Chairmen Involved in Hiring"; (4) "Job-Seeking and Recruitment in Community and Junior Colleges"; (5) "Alternatives to Teaching"; and (6) appendices: additional sources of information, sample letters and forms.
