Abstract | The Comprehensive School Mathematics Program (CSMP) is a program of CEMREL, Inc., one of the national educational laboratories, and is funded by the National Institute of Education. Its major purpose is the development of curriculum materials in mathematics for grades K-6. Beginning in September, 1973, CSMP began an extended pilot trial of its Elementary Program. In May, 1976, a questionnaire was sent to all second and third grade teachers (over 100) of CSMP. This report summarizes responses received from 46% of the sample. Included in the report is a description of the questionnaire, description of 1975-76 students, implementation of the program, perceptions of student achievement and attitudes, experience with CSMP and evaluation of the program, and a summary. Included in the appendices are responses to a number of open-ended questions on the questionnaire. (RH) |
