Abstract | This guide is specifically designed to accompany materials developed for occupational orientation (particularly in Illinois) in the following five cluster areas: Applied biological and agricultural occupations; personal and public service occupations; health occupations; business, marketing, and management occupations; and industrial oriented occupations. Following an overview of occupational orientation in Illinois, suggestions are provided to teachers for implementing a variety of instructional strategies contained in the clusters (field trips, simulations, use of resource persons, and in-class projects), and a career orientation package on interviewing techniques designed to lay a basic foundation for the learning activity packages within each cluster is presented. Also included in the guide are guidelines for developing pre-post assessment tests and a Student Awareness/Attitude Inventory that can be administered at the beginning of the cluster course. (WL) |
