Abstract | Social invention is defined as any law, organization, or procedure that changes the ways in which people relate to each other, either individually or collectively. The author discusses the dynamics of social invention and proposes specific social policy changes needed in Canada in such areas as mental health, educational outreach programs, and social science research. The second half of the book catalogues historically significant social inventions and proposes an agenda for social inventions in the future. (MPB) |
