Abstract | This is the teacher's manual of the Family Oriented Structured Preschool Activity, a Title III Elementary and Secondary Education Act Developer/Demonstration Project in Saint Cloud, Minnesota. The program attempts to mold the expertise of the parent with the expertise of the professional educator in order to enhance the child's development. It is an alternative form of preschool education which is designed to increase competencies and self confidence in both parents and children. The preschool program involves parents and children working together in a preschool center and at home. The teacher's manual contains chapters on (1) administrative considerations, (2) recruiting volunteers, (3) working with parents, (4) program goals, (5) orientation, (6) preinvolvement preparation, (7) activity kit exchange, (8) the monthly workshop, (9) home activity, and (10) preschool assessment. Appendices include: a bibliography, a listing of films and materials, songs, lesson plans, an outline of learning stations and activity kits, schedules and suggested parent library materials.
