Abstract	This document contains three conference papers concerning institutional research at the community college level. Ann Bromley discusses the practical implications of institutional research. The president, administrative staff, and faculty must be involved in identification of research issues, formulation of design, and application of findings. Research can provide data for decision making, can link administration and faculty more closely, and can help in implementing institutional goals. Gary A. Rice discusses the need for information systems in two-year colleges, so that decision making can shift from crisis-reactive to anticipatory-planning modes. A management information system model, a cost accounting analysis system model, and a curriculum accountability matrix model are presented in brief as potential means for synthesizing and analyzing data; William D. Cohen discusses the factors causing need for institutional research, objectives and subjects of institutional research at the community college level, and the organization of institutional research offices. Institutional researchers must not be satisfied with present levels of attainment, but must extend their competencies in information technology and their familiarity with higher educational administration.
