Abstract | The author commends the Ohio Education Association (OEA) for its role in encouraging collective bargaining in the state and for its actions against recalcitrant boards of education that refuse to grant teachers a say in school district decision-making. By levying sanctions and, in some cases, striking against oppressive school boards, the Ohio teachers have made some progress, though the state still does not have a collective bargaining law. The OEA encourages its members to keep well informed on innovations in curriculum through inservice education. Hopefully teachers will eventually be allowed to contribute to school district curriculum planning. (Author/DS) |
