Abstract	This collection contains Child Development Associate (CDA) training materials from the Fall River, Massachusetts, training program, including a booklet for trainers, a chapter on curriculum planning, and three modules covering the areas of preschool environment, daily schedule and transitions, and observations of children. Each module contains a training section for the CDA candidate and an evaluation section for assessment of the candidate by the trainer or by the candidate himself. The training section follows a workbook format, and the assessment section provides specific guidelines for evaluating observations made in the preschool classroom. The first module focuses on the physical environment, emphasizing developing a maintainable arrangement for furniture, equipment, and materials. Room space is divided into functional areas that the children can recognize, and organized so that the children can take on some responsibility for care and maintenance of equipment. The second module is concerned with daily scheduling techniques, focusing on the arrangement of planned sequences of active and quiet, indoor and outdoor activities within a setting that is flexible enough to adjust to special circumstances and needs. The third module deals with developing techniques for observing children as they grow and progress in the areas of group behavior and verbal ability. The chapter on curriculum planning deals briefly with establishing goals, selecting themes, planning activities, and writing lesson plans. A booklet for trainers reviews briefly the CDA program and describes in detail seven trainer competencies that facilitate the teaching of CDA trainees. (SB)
