| Abstract | The third volume in this series contains eighteen articles dealing with various aspects of Romanian-English contrastive analysis. The goal of the project is to reveal the specificity of the structures and systems of Romanian and English, and to compare them in order to formulate norms for the practical teaching of the two languages. To this end, the present articles cover such topics as the vowel systems in Romanian and English, methods for teaching sound systems, passive and possessive constructions, contrasted grammars, verbs and their objects, tense structure, the imperfect tense, semantic grammatical equivalences of modal verb phrases, relative clause structure, semantic structure, semantic transformation and contrastive analysis of vocabulary, and semantic interference. The last article is a report of the working group for studies in vocabulary. (CLK) |
