Abstract	Selected professional periodicals were searched for statements of objectives of secondary school biology teaching for six subperiods of the period 1918-1972. Statements of 18 objective types were classified as to frequency of occurrence, category, authorship, and year of publication. The categories of objectives were: knowledge, process, attitude, interest, and cultural awareness. Seven of the objective types were identified as most prevalent, although all of the 18 objective types were found in the literature of all six subperiods. (MLH)
