AbstractThis guide was designed to help elementary school faculties begin a cycle of evaluation, revision, implementation, and change which can coincide with other evaluation cycles, such as Educational Quality Assessment (EQA) testing or longrange planning, if desired. The processes described in the general procedures section are suggestions; situation. This document is generally cognitive in nature because knowledge with understanding is still a primary reason for basic education. Attempts to "open" or humanize education as well as to involve the community in the schools, however, must also be considered in any self-study. This guide reflects those attempts by including (1) a special section on the evaluation of experimental organizational, instructional, and special subject programs; (2) items in all sections on affective education, individualizing instruction and using discovery, inquiry and exploration techniques with children; and (3) comprehensive sections which examine the entire school program from different viewpoints. The open-ended commendations and recommendations summaries allow all participants to place proper emphasis on what each considers the most important findings of the study. (Author/BJG)
