Abstract | This document investigates the successful effort to develop and implement a strategy for obtaining a performance-oriented training program for Barry College School of Social Work Field instructors. The mission of the project was to create a system of influence to concert activity so that the educational policy of the school could be shaped to facilitate training of field instructors. A survey was constructed and sent to all active field instructors to determine whether they felt a performance--oriented training program would be helpful to them in teaching students. Results of the questionnaire showed that the large majority of clinical faculty strongly desired such a training program. The results of the survey were presented to the Association of Agency-Paid Field Instructors. That association passed a motion formally requesting the school to design and carry out performance-oriented training for clinical faculty. This request was then taken to the Field Instruction Committee who passed a similar motion. The proposal was then presented to the Dean of the School of Social Work who appropriated money for the program. (Author/KE) |
