Abstract	Educational change is presented by narrating one school district's experience in developing and implementing changes in response to court orders to racially desegregate. With the assistance of Research for Better Schools, in a "change agent" relationship, school building grade-level organization was changed to early childhood through grade 2, grades 3-5, grades 6-8, grades 9-10, and grades 11-12, each grouped separately in a building. The administrative organization was changed to a superintendency team, and a comprehensive planning system was installed. The change process is presented historically as moving from the schoolmaster mode to the specialist teaching in a child-centered organizational mode. E.S.E.A., Title IV is cited as a major force for educational change through initiation of research and development centers. To accomplish planned educational change, it is said that an outside change agent is required and that administrators must be trained to administer the change process. (DW)
