Abstract | Prepared to assist both the Congress and the public involved in Rural Development (RD), the 1975 Revised Guide to the Rural Development Act of 1972 provides definitive and implemental information. Part 1 deals with the Act itself, detailing its purpose, historical perspective, and major provisions. Divided into three areas of concern, Part 2 deals wtih implementation as follows: (1) New Programs (Loans for Rural Enterprise, Community Facilities, Business and Industry, and Young Rural Residents; Rural Community Fire Protection; etc.); (2) Existing Provisions Amended or Expanded by the Act (Water and Waste Disposal Grants; RD Planning Grants; Escrow Payments; Agriculture Credit and RD Insurance Fund; Loans for Watershed and Resource Conservation and Development, Guaranteed Housing, Size of Farm, and Insured Farm; Repeal of County Committee Approval Requirement for Association and District Loans; Disposition of Real Property; Guarantee of Loans; and Titles I and III); (3) Other U.S. Department of Agriculture RD Programs Not Covered Under the Act (Programs Administered by: Farmers Home and Rural Electrification Administrations; Soil Conservation, Forest, Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation, Extension, Farmer Cooperative, Economic Research, and Cooperative State Research Services).
