Abstract | The Commission on Coordination of Higher Educational Finance was created by the Arkansas General Assembly in 1961 for the purpose of coordinating financial matters between public colleges and universities in Arkansas and to make recommendations concerning finances to the governor, the general assembly, and the respective institutional boards of trustees. Included in this document of the Department of Higher Education are narrative descriptions of the activities carried out during the biennial period ending June 30, 1973 supplemented by quantitative data. After a brief introduction, a summary of the agency's history, and a description of the organization and the scope of public higher education in Arkansas, the document covers topics such as: instructional programs, financial coordination, capital improvement funds, federal programs, community colleges, and data processing. Tables follow the conclusion and include: fall semester headcount enrollment of Arkansas Public Colleges and Universities from 1963-1972; certificates and degrees granted by public colleges and universities in Arkansas from 1968-69 to 1972-73; new programs proposed and action of the state board of higher education from 1971-73; state appropriations for operating purposes for Arkansas state-supported colleges and universities from 1972/73, 1973/74, and 1974/75; existing square feet of facilities by space function.
