Abstract | This volume is an attempt to provide the sociology of language with the basic teaching-learning tools needed in order to facilitate its academic growth and consolidation. It provides the students and specialist in language planning with a comprehensive anthology of articles dealing with this area of research in the sociology of language. The articles deal with various aspects of language planning and language policy in various countries of the world, and are divided into four sections. Section one, on Theoretical Studies, includes articles by Neustupny, Tauli, P. L. Garvin, J. A. Fishman, and F. X. Karam. Section two, on Language Policy Studies, includes articles by G. Hazai, J. W. Spencer, W. H. Whiteley, W. E. Welmers, S. A. Wurm, B. Sibayan, and H. Lavondes. Section three, on Codification, Cultivation and Elaboration Studies, includes articles by S. J. Altoma, G. L. Guitarte and R. T. Qunintero, G. Ansre, S. T. Alisjahbana, J. Fellman, and D. Barnes. Section four, on Implementation, Evaluation and Feedback Studies, includes articles by J. Pool, Y.
