Abstract	The guide was designed to aid teachers in incorporating career awareness units into major subject curricula on the elementary level. The major objectives are: to help the students develop positive self-concepts and attitudes toward careers; to learn about career opportunities; to expose students to diverse careers, life styles, and educational experiences; to help students relate their classroom work to occupations, and to become aware of diverse work roles within 15 occupational clusters (business, marketing, communication, construction, manufacturing, agribusiness, marine science, environment, public services, health, recreation, personal services, fine arts and humanities, consumer, and transportation). The Career Awareness modules consist of slides and tapes, interviewing techniques, an elementary dictionary of occupational titles, and instructional units. The instructional units (continued in this document) cover language arts, mathematics, social studies, reading, music or art, and contain behavioral objectives, suggested activities for the teacher, information sheets, student activity sheets, and student and teacher evaluation sheets. The units on the K-3 level attempt to prepare the students for job responsibility, to enable them to experience success, to acquire basic skills, and to identify positive traits of workers. For the intermediate grades, the objectives focus on building on basic skills and doing independent research. (JB)
