Abstract	These hearings began with an opening statement by Senator Mondale. Ronald Pollack, chairman, Panel on Nutrition and Special Groups, presented the report of the panel. This report was organized in four parts: Part 1, "Poverty, Inflation, and Hunger," included sections discussing the presence of undernutrition among the poor, and the effect of food price increases on the poor. Part 2, "The Family Support Programs," included sections discussing the food stamp program, food stamp cashout and welfare reform, the development of poor people's food cooperatives, and emergency food and medical services. Part 3, "Child Nutrition Programs," included sections discussing supplemental feeding programs for women, infants, and children, the special food service program for children, and school food service programs. Part 4, "The Unique Needs of Special Groups," included sections discussing nutrition and Native Americans, nutrition and migrant laborers, nutrition and the elderly, and nutrition in the Pacific territories. The testimony of other witnesses is also presented in this document. (JM)
