| Abstract | The conference proceedings contained in this document include invited papers, transcripts of discussions following those papers, and the reports of topical committees that met during the three day conference held in Luxembourg, May 1973. The focus of the conference was on the design and use of information retrieval and data base systems in various European contexts. Specific topics included (1) collection and indexing problems involved with the INSPEC data base, (2) data processing problems during photocomposition of Food Science and Technology Abstracts, (3) a system of sectoral user networks, (4) the ASSASSIN system: local retrieval needs and intercompany networks, (5) a comparative study of terminal user techniques in four European countries on a large common on-line interactive information retrieval system, (6) CAB--an agricultural information network, (7) fundamental aspects of financing information centers, (8) current trends in making information centers self-supporting, (9) S.D.I.: A Second Generation?!.
