Abstract | This report provides an overview of the Florida community college system through a narrative description of its history, organization, goals, and philosophy, and a statistical description of enrollments, personnel, academic programs, physical facilities, and finances. Roles and relationships of local and state agencies and advisory councils, state funding formulae, development of the articulation system, and district-level vocational educational responsibilities are also outlined. The Florida community college system is notable for its unusual balance of local control with state coordination and support. This document is intended to provide answers to those questions most frequently asked by the legislature, public agencies, and citizens. (AH) |
