Abstract	The impact of social and institutional pressures for governance reform in higher education during the late sixties resulted in many accomodations and constructive changes in institutional policies and procedures. However, with a change in the economic climate and with the advent of collective bargaining a new range of items are appearing on the agenda of trustees. This document reviews recent literature on trustees and examines issues that should concern those who govern institutions of higher education. (MJM)
