Abstract | This training manual is designed to help in the training of women for homemaker service. The material specifies what will be most meaningful to the homemaker trainees in their daily work as well as to give insights into the larger problems of families in trouble and to advance the goals of the homemaker service. In connection with the trainee program these topics are concentrated upon: introduction to homemaker service; goals, role of the homemaker, and types of services; working with people in trouble; children; the homemaker and the elderly; the homemaker and the care of the sick; the homemaker and mental health; the homemaker--nutrition and home management; agency policies and procedures; and agency forms and related materials. Each of these topics is taught through informal discussions, lectures, practice, and demonstrations. Supplementary aids which have proved to be helpful include films, case histories, and problem-setting questions. (Author/BP) |
