| Abstract | The Forest Service, U. S. Department of Agriculture, requested the Bureau of Solid Waste Management to conduct a study of National Forest recreation areas to establish waste generation rates for major recreation activities and to determine the cost of solid waste handling for selected Forest Service Districts. This report describes the 1968 solid waste generation rates for all major recreation activities in the Forest Service, as well as the various methods of solid waste storage, collection, and disposal encountered. Some proposed changes of these practices are also discussed in this report. (JP) |
