Abstract | The purpose of this book is to attempt to illustrate some of the interrelationships between anthropology and other fields, offering students the opportunity to discover inductively some of the core ideas in anthropology. Furthermore, the potential job market for people with training in anthropology, whether consisting of a few courses or a graduate degree, is indicated in a number of these fields. A Ph.D. degree may be essential for a university career in teaching anthropology, but understanding the approach to research and problems will be helpful for many who do not plan to become professionals in this discipline. Most of the papers presented here received their first airing at the Southern Anthropological Society at their annual meeting in 1972. (Author/PG) |
