Abstract | There are numerous indications that school districts across the nation increasingly view year-round school operation as much for the opportunities to improve the educational program as for reasons of space utilization or economy. Additionally, a year-round school operation could capitalize on the school's capability for individualization of instruction, and, in a year-round school, the calendar could become the vehicle for an instructional program. A model is provided whereby administrators, by adking questions designed to help them recognize what kind(s) of change is needed in a particular situation, could bring about changes in the instructional program. Solutions developed by persons in various school programs are also included. (Author/MLF) |
